After a fourteen-year successful exhibition history it has become hard to imagine the North Sea island of Föhr without “its” art museum. With its distinct profile, the Museum Kunst der Westküste draws not just islanders and vacationers every year but also lures art lovers from all countries to the idyllic town of Alkersum with its first-rate temporary exhibitions focusing on work from the west coast countries of Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

Because the museum operates without any public funds, its exhibition programme can be realised only with the help of numerous sponsors and partners. In 2009, the Swedish-Swiss entrepreneur Frederik Paulsen donated the museum building which has won multiple awards for its architecture. In it, the renowned West Coast Art Collection is accessible to a wide public.

Without private involvement the museum would simply not exist. Whether a private individual, a foundation, a medium-sized company, or an internationally operating corporation – anyone can take on social responsibility and help support the ongoing educational efforts of the Museum Kunst der Westküste. We offer different cooperation models – whether in the form of cultural sponsoring, a donation, a gift, or an endowment contribution, whether as a friend, a sponsor, or a patron – and invite you to join us on our journey.
