DISCOVER FÖHR AND THE WEST COAST
Discover the works from the Museum Kunst der Westküste’s collection while you’re out and about. Make your way – virtually or on location with a bike – along our curated art routes across the island of Föhr and learn more about the works with the help of multimedia content. Corresponding new audio content is available for children and adults: in German, English and Danish.
The heart of the app is a map of the four west coast countries: Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. Find out how to locate the motifs from individual works in the museum’s collection!
Whenever you’re near a place where an artwork was created, you can become personally active. How did the artists see this place as they painted or photographed it? What do you see there today? You can use a special feature to compare the artwork with your own picture as you are taking it or later on.

YOUR MULTIMEDIA GUIDE IN THE MUSEUM
The app will also accompany you during your visit to the museum to offer important information and videos related to the current exhibitions.
Get to know the art on the island of Föhr and along the west coast from a new perspective!
TIP: Tracing the art of the Uthlande
You can now explore the islands and Halligen (small tidal islands) of the North Frisian Wadden Sea from fresh perspectives! Visit the places that captivated renowned painters such as Otto Heinrich Engel, Hans Peter Feddersen, Elisabeth Krüger, and Otto Modersohn. As early as 1900, artists drew inspiration for new works from the landscape and the people of the Uthlande region. From the steep cliffs of Heligoland and the flat marshlands of Hallig Hooge to the grassy dunes of Sylt—let yourself be swept up in the artists’ fascination with this unique landscape and habitat.
What does it look like there today? Share your impressions using the photo feature in the MKdW on tour app!
The new audio tour features 12 artworks and is available in three languages—German, English, and Danish—for both children and adults. Discover the Uthlande region, whether you are out and about island-hopping or relaxing at home.
